Project Description:

When Oxford United approached us in January 2017 after drawing Newcastle in the FA Cup it was to come up with an opening solution that could also divide under the stands between the home and away end of the North Stand, this would be necessary by FA Cup rules give the extra capacity needed for the away fans.

The maximum height of a suitable steel pair of doors was 4 meters with an opening of each leaf of 2 meters (the biggest individual doors we have ever had made to this date)!

The design then required structural engineering and steel frames to support the doors and also withstand all sorts of crowd pressure against the locking system.

Full electronics force tests were taken and with the addition of a free swinging steel bar the design passed all tests and the structure was used for the first time. It was used again 3 more times that season and continuously over the coming seasons and is still in use to this day as Oxford United climb the football league.

As a loyal fan and a true Yellow and Blue not only am I proud of what we achieved in this project but also happy to help my own club and see it in use season after season.
